Sweet or Sour at Resolution!

Wednesday 22nd January 2014, 8pm

Sweet or Sour premieres The O Syndrome at Resolution! – The Place’s annual choreographic platform for emerging dance makers – on Wednesday 22nd January 2014.

Choreographed and performed by French London-based performance artist Tonny A. The O Syndrome deals with the side effects of being labelled as socially vulnerable.

“When I first started to think about this piece, I was particularly interested in vulnerability from anybody’s point of view whose precarious position within Society is as much a consequence of a lack of stability, structure or acceptance towards their condition. Quickly though, I realized someone’s relationship to their vulnerability can easily be defined by a constant need for validation. It then makes vulnerability a conflicting feeling difficult to handle” says Tonny A.

Set against visual backdrops and a cacophony of live sounds, this 30mn solo dance piece puts the performer’s body into a fight against his vulnerability through a mix of fluid movements and rigid moments of stillness.

The O Syndrome opens a diverse evening of performances featuring as well Wide Eyed Dance and James Morgan/Charley Fone. For their second appearance at Resolution! Wide Eyed Dance revisits the modern notion of Freedom with A Rustle of Wings while James Morgan/Charley Fone presents Ensemble, a solo dance piece dealing with the tribulations of creating work for free.
